Festive Feast at Culina Bistro

Specially for this Buka Puasa, Culina Bistro weaves commendable local flavours into its European-slanted menu, alongside other a la carte selections.


The four-course Festive Feast for two begins with Oxtail Soup, made from Australian oxtail simmered in a light broth, together with carrot, celery and potato. The oxtail is one of the most tender I’ve had, in a comforting soup – the perfect starter for breaking fast.

Next is Roti Jala, paired with an aromatic potato curry. This popular Malay tea snack eases the way for the main course, with its lacey-crepe that absorbs the richness of the curry, yielding texture and flavour that’s a party in the mouth.

At supplementary charge, you can also have appetisers such as Crab Cakes (+RM70), Pandan Chicken (+RM30), Seafood Tempura (+RM50) and Beef Bergedil (+RM50), if you want something more substantial.
For mains, choose two main courses from a line-up that reflects Culina’s hybrid identity: Ayam Percik, Beef Pizza, Butter Chicken, Clam Aglio Olio or Prawn Spaghetti.
We had the Mibrasa-grilled chicken or Ayam Percik that is organic, antibiotic-free lacto chicken, marinated for 24 hours with galangal, lemongrass and a blend of other spices. Grilled in a Mibrasa charcoal oven, you get a lightly charred skin, still juicy and moist flesh inside, infused with a light smokiness that enhances the poultry. This comes with corn rice and zesty acar (pickled vegetables) for a complete meal.

We also tried the delectable Beef Pizza, hearty and tasty, which will cater to the young well. The crust is nice and crisp at the edges, dotted with pepper-crusted beef slices, mushrooms and capsicum.

Dessert was simple yet well-executed – the Pandan Crêpe (+RM10) was a version of the Malay kuih ketayap, with a dose of cream added on top of the gula Melaka sweetened dessicated coconut, plus coconut ice cream on the side. Other choices include Flourless Chocolate Cake (+RM28), Kueh Bakar with coconut ice cream, Soft Serve Sulawesi Vanilla (+RM10), or a Dessert of the Day (+RM10).

Situated within The Shoppes at Four Seasons Place, Culina merges gourmet market and bistro dining whereby you can choose premium meats from Australia, New Zealand and Korea, seafood from France, artisanal cheeses, olive oils for your meal. Culina also displays an extensive wine list and other ingredients for your baking needs.
